Since 1994 Praxis Records – a record label founded in London by Christoph Fringeli and currently based in Berlin – and its associated artists produce and distribute rather unusual music: breakcore. In many ways, Praxis is an anti-thesis to the major labels of the music industry: the self-attributed tagline “visibility is a trap“ is a quote from Foucault, there is an affiliated zine called Datacide with articles revolving around resistance, subversion and illegal parties – teknivals, and the whole venture is being done “not for the kudos, prestige and cash it might bring in, but for the buzz of inter-activity and mutual respect.“ Silvia Biagioni’s “manifesto documentary” is an introduction to Praxis, shot mainly in VHS and mixed with animations and degraded film materials.
